Today? To get that same cross-platform access without friction, you basically have to carry both an iPhone and an Android in your pocket. Not quite as simple as clicking an desktop icon!
Then again, if you've got cash to burn and carry two phones, at least you're mobile. Back in '97, using AIM meant being glued to a heavy desktop tower, chained to your desk. But honestly? There’s still a huge wave of nostalgia that comes with sitting at your computer desk late at night, hearing that door-open sound effect, and chatting with your friends.
